Every single registered domain has at least two Name Server records that show where it's hosted i.e. by using these records you direct your domain name to the servers of a certain hosting company. That way, you have both your site and your e-mails handled by the exact same company. On the lower level of the Domain Name System (DNS), however, there are a number of other records, like A and MX. The first one reveals which server handles the site for a given domain address and is always an IP address (123.123.123.123), while the second one indicates which server handles the emails and is always an alphanumeric string (mx1.domain.com). For example, whenever you enter a domain in your web browser, your request is directed through the global DNS system to the company whose NS records the domain name uses and from there you will be sent to the servers of a different company in case you have set an IP address of the latter as an A record for your Internet domain. Having independent records for the site and the emails suggests that you can have your website and your e-mails with 2 different companies if you'd like.

Custom MX and A Records in Shared Hosting

If you have a shared hosting account with our company and you would like to move either your site or your emails to another service provider, it is going to take you literally simply two mouse clicks to do it. Our Hepsia Control Panel provides an easy-to-use DNS Records tool, where all your domains and subdomains are going to be listed alphabetically and you're going to be able to see and modify the A and/or MX records for any of them. If you want to use a different email provider and they ask you to set up more MX records than the standard two, it will not take more than a couple of clicks either to add them. Also you can set different latency for these records and the lower the latency, the greater the priority a certain MX record will have. The propagation of each record that you modify or create won't take more than a few hours and if needed, you'll also be able to set the so-called Time-To-Live value, that reveals how long a record will remain active after it is changed or deleted.

Custom MX and A Records in Semi-dedicated Hosting

With the Linux semi-dedicated hosting that we offer, you are going to have 100 % control over the records of all domains and subdomains which you add in your hosting account. You can easily check what A and MX records each of them has through the DNS Records section of the Hepsia hosting CP and editing any record requires as little as a couple of mouse clicks. If you decide to change your web or email hosting provider, you can update the necessary record and direct your domain name to the other service provider for one of the services, while you still continue using the other one through us. You can also keep the main domain here, while you modify the A record of only one of its subdomains. If you're modifying the MX records and you need additional ones on top of the default two we have, you could create them with ease and set a different priority for every single one.
